🤖 xAI releases Grok 2 with image generation!

Elon Musk's xAI has rolled out Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini, the latest iterations of its AI models, now available in beta. These models introduce significant advancements in reasoning, chat capabilities, and coding, and they bring a new, highly anticipated feature to the X social network: image generation. 

Here’s what else you need to know: 

🎨 Image Generation: Grok-2 can now create images directly on X, leveraging the FLUX.1 model from Black Forest Labs. However, early users have noticed the absence of restrictions around generating images of political figures, which raises concerns about the potential spread of misinformation, especially with the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

💻 Developer Access: Later this month, xAI will open access to Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini for developers through a new enterprise API. This platform promises low-latency access across the globe, enhanced security features like multi-factor authentication, and advanced billing analytics.

🧠 Enhanced Capabilities: Grok-2 has been benchmarked against other leading AI models and outperformed competitors like Claude 3.5 Sonnet and GPT-4-Turbo in reasoning, coding, and vision-based tasks. It excels in tasks requiring complex problem-solving and understanding, making it a powerful tool for many applications. Additionally, Grok-2 is set to power new AI-driven features on X, including improved search functionality, more insightful post analytics, and enhanced reply options.

What’s next? xAI is not stopping with Grok-2. The company plans to introduce multimodal understanding, allowing Grok to process and generate content across different media types, such as text, images, and video. This will further expand its utility on X and other platforms. 

For now, Grok-2 is exclusively available to Premium and Premium+ users on X.

At the Made by Google Pixel launch event, Google unveiled its latest lineup of premium devices, including the Pixel 9 series, the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and the Pixel Watch 3. But the real star of the show was Google's generative AI, Gemini, which is now deeply integrated into the company's new hardware and beyond.

📱 Gemini AI Takes Center Stage: Gemini, formerly known as Bard, has been embedded at the core of Google's Android operating system. This generative AI is now a key feature across the Pixel 9 series, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel Watch 3. Google demonstrated how Gemini simplifies daily tasks, even showcasing its capabilities on competitor devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24, emphasizing its wide applicability.

👥 Gemini Live–A New AI Experience: In addition to the standard Gemini AI, Google introduced Gemini Live, a voice chat feature exclusive to the Gemini Advanced subscription service, priced at $20 per month. This feature allows users to engage in natural, voice-based conversations with the AI, making it a versatile tool for brainstorming and preparing for tricky conversations. Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL buyers will receive a year of Gemini Advanced with their purchase.

🧑‍💻 Cosine unveils record-breaking AI software engineer!

 Cosine, a UK-based AI startup, has made headlines by unveiling what they claim to be the "World's best AI Software Engineer." Named Genie, this AI model has set a new industry benchmark by scoring an impressive 30.08% on the SWE-Bench, the standard for evaluating software engineering skills in AI models. 

This achievement surpasses the previous record of 19.27% held by Factory Code Droid, and far outshines other well-known models, including Devin and GPT-4. 

Here’s what else makes this impressive: 

🌟 A Leap in AI-Driven Software Engineering: By emulating human reasoning in software engineering, Cosine’s Genie is not just another AI model but a sophisticated tool designed to think like a human software engineer. Cosine trained Genie using proprietary data that reflects real-world problem-solving processes, allowing it to operate far beyond the capabilities of current AI tools.

🔧 Genie's Capabilities: Genie can autonomously solve bugs, build features, and refactor code, or collaborate with human developers. It integrates seamlessly with GitHub, streamlining workflow by importing issues and creating detailed work specifications. Genie's ability to precisely identify files and edit in-place makes it a valuable asset for development teams, enhancing productivity and efficiency.

💼 Funding and Future Expansion: Cosine recently secured $2.5 million in seed funding, led by SOMA and Uphonest Capital, with additional backing from Lakestar and Focal. With this funding, Cosine plans to expand Genie's capabilities to cover more programming languages and frameworks, exploring smaller models for simpler tasks and larger ones for more complex challenges.
