🚀 Trump announces $500B Stargate AI project.

On January 21, 2025, President Donald Trump, along with tech leaders from OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, announced the launch of the Stargate Project, a $500 billion AI infrastructure initiative designed to solidify the United States' leadership in artificial intelligence. 

The project, billed as the largest AI infrastructure investment in history, is set to revolutionize data center capabilities and generate 100,000 new jobs.

1. Massive Investment in AI Infrastructure

• Initial funding: $100 billion, with plans to expand to $500 billion over the next four years.

• Scope: Development of cutting-edge data centers and computing systems to support AI research, development, and deployment.

• First project: A 1-million-square-foot data center in Abilene, Texas, which will use up to 1 gigawatt of electricity, enough to power 750,000 homes.

2. Strategic Partnerships: Lead partners include:

• SoftBank: Financial responsibility and chairmanship by CEO Masayoshi Son.

• OpenAI: Operational responsibility under CEO Sam Altman.

• Oracle: Infrastructure expertise as one of the largest U.S. data center operators.

But that’s not all. Additional collaborators include giants like NVIDIA, Microsoft, and MGX, the Middle East AI fund. 

3. National and Global Implications: The economic impact is incredible, as the project will create 100,000 new jobs, as well as give a boost to U.S. re-industrialization through local manufacturing and infrastructure development.

In addition, it ensures AI infrastructure remains under U.S. control, reducing reliance on foreign technologies.

🔍 Perplexity launches Sonar API for AI search!

Perplexity recently announced the launch of Sonar, an API that enables developers and enterprises to integrate its generative AI search capabilities into their own platforms. 

This marks a significant step in making real-time, fact-based AI search accessible to a broader audience.

1. Real-Time Internet Connection: Unlike traditional generative AI models relying solely on training data, Sonar APIs connect to the internet in real-time. This enables:

2. Two API Tiers

Perplexity offers two tiers for different use cases: Sonar and Sonar Pro. Sonar is designed for lightweight, cost-effective, and fast searches. Its pricing model is flat: $5 per 1,000 searches, with additional costs based on input and output token usage.

Sonar Pro, on the other hand, is suited for complex, multi-step queries with more detailed answers. It also offers a larger context window and is priced at $5 per 1,000 searches, $3 per million input tokens, and $15 per million output tokens.
