🤯OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman pushes for AI regulation.
As AI-powered tools become the norm, there’s bound to be excitement as regards unlocking possibilities with the power of this technology. However, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, one of the companies leading the AI race is leaning towards another direction.
As a matter of fact, he is currently calling for further AI regulation by the government. Earlier this week, Altman appeared at a senate hearing and pushed for congress members to take action towards regulating AI. In his words “regulatory intervention by governments will be critical to mitigate the risks of increasingly powerful models.”
He also suggested that the government should implement licensing and testing requirements in order to facilitate the regulation of this emerging technology. Evidently, industry professionals as well as lawmakers are wary of the risks AI poses, and it will be pretty interesting to see how these impending regulations shape up.
🤖 The new ChatGPT plugins are here!
Following up on a flurry of software releases by Google last week, OpenAI responded with a flurry of their own—focusing on plugin-related updates for premium ChatGPT users. Asides from expanding the already great capabilities of the generative AI tool, these plugins will provide integration avenues to provide a well-rounded user experience.
According to a statement by the company, “We’re rolling out web browsing and plugins to all ChatGPT Plus users over the next week! Moving from alpha to beta, they allow ChatGPT to access the internet and use 70+ third-party plugins. ”

Amazon joins the list of tech giants leveraging the power of generative AI technology with their latest update. In essence, the company plans to rival the efforts of Google and Microsoft by incorporating conversational—ChatGPT-like—AI technology into the product search feature on its web store.
According to recent job listings, the company is searching for software engineers with the goal of “reimagining Amazon Search with an interactive conversational experience.” What’s more, Amazon spokesperson, Keri Bertnolino added to the above, stating “We are significantly investing in generative AI across all our businesses.”
In any case, one thing’s for sure: an AI-powered Amazon Search engine will be a delight to see!
