OpenAI has introduced GPT-4o mini, its most cost-efficient small model yet, designed to make AI more accessible and affordable for a broad range of applications.

🚀 Cost-Efficient Intelligence: GPT-4o mini is priced at just 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, making it significantly more affordable than previous models. This model aims to expand the use of AI by reducing costs by over 60% compared to GPT-3.5 Turbo.

🌐 Versatile Applications: With a context window of 128K tokens and support for up to 16K output tokens per request, GPT-4o mini is ideal for tasks like chaining multiple model calls, handling large volumes of context, and providing real-time customer support. It currently supports text and vision, with future updates to include text, image, video, and audio inputs and outputs.

🧠 Superior Performance: GPT-4o mini surpasses GPT-3.5 Turbo and other small models on various benchmarks, scoring 82% on MMLU for textual intelligence and reasoning. It excels in mathematical reasoning, coding tasks, and multimodal reasoning, demonstrating strong performance across the board.

🔍 Built-In Safety: Safety is a priority with GPT-4o mini, featuring robust safety measures from pre-training to post-training. These include filtering out harmful content and improving model reliability through reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF). The model also employs new techniques to resist jailbreaks and prompt injections.

Overall, GPT-4o mini is set to provide developers with an affordable, efficient, and powerful tool. According to Olivier Godement, OpenAI’s API Platform Product Lead, “GPT-4o Mini really gets at the OpenAI mission of making AI more broadly accessible to people. If we want AI to benefit every corner of the world, every industry, every application, we have to make AI much more affordable.” 

🏎️  Toyota and Stanford Engineering achieve Autonomous tandem drift milestone.

Stanford Engineering, in collaboration with the Toyota Research Institute, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in autonomous driving with the world’s first fully autonomous tandem drift. This achievement aims to advance the potential of AI to improve driving safety.

Here’s what you need to know:

🚀 Revolutionizing Safety: In a remarkable feat, two driverless cars, guided solely by AI, performed a complex tandem drift maneuver. This involves one car leading and the other following closely, mimicking every move without human input. The lead car plans and executes its path, while the chase car mirrors it, maintaining a distance of less than 10 inches at speeds up to 35 mph.

🌐 AI and Real-Time Communication: Using GPS and Wi-Fi, the cars communicate and coordinate their movements with precision. This high-risk scenario demonstrates the advanced capabilities of AI in dynamic conditions, simulating real-world challenges like responding to other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.

🧠 Advanced Control: The AI employs Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC) to continually plan and adjust steering, throttle, and brake commands. In addition, the neural network tire model allows the AI to learn from each test, improving performance and adapting to changing track conditions.

By mastering complex maneuvers and adapting to changing track conditions, AI can help prevent accidents caused by loss of control, potentially saving lives on public roads. This achievement highlights the power of AI in enhancing driving safety and paves the way for future advancements in autonomous vehicle technology. 

🚀 Adobe rolls out more generative AI updates for Illustrator and Photoshop!

Adobe is enhancing its Creative Cloud apps with new AI generative tools, streamlining workflows and giving users more creative control. 

Here’s what’s new in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop:

🚀 AI-Powered Illustrator: The latest version of Adobe Illustrator introduces new tools like the beta Generative Shape Fill, allowing designers to add detailed vectors to shapes using text prompts in the Contextual Taskbar. This tool is powered by the Firefly Vector Model, providing extra speed, power, and precision.

🌐 Text to Pattern: Illustrator’s new Text to Pattern feature lets users describe the pattern they want, and the AI does the rest. Other innovations include the Dimension Tool, Mockup, and enhanced selection tools, all aimed at speeding up tedious design tasks.

🖌️ Enhanced Photoshop: Adobe Photoshop now features the Generate Image tool powered by Firefly Image 3 Model, along with intuitive tools like the Selection Brush Tool and Adjustment Brush Tool. These enhancements streamline repetitive tasks and unlock new levels of productivity and precision.

With these updates, designers can dive deeper into their work and easily produce high-quality results. Well…maybe not “easily,” but definitely easier than before 😉.
