Midjourney has released its long-awaited new AI image generation model, V7, its first update in nearly a year.
Available now in alpha, V7 introduces significant improvements and new features designed to enhance both usability and image quality.
Here’s what you need to know:
🎨 What's New in Midjourney V7?
Personalization by Default: V7 requires users to rate around 200 images to create a personalized profile, optimizing future images to individual aesthetic preferences.
Improved Image Quality: CEO David Holz described V7 as featuring a completely redesigned architecture, resulting in:
Enhanced realism and coherence, particularly in challenging areas like bodies, hands, and detailed objects.
More accurate and responsive text-prompt interpretation.
Noticeably better textures and visual details.
Two Operational Modes: Turbo Mode provides higher quality images at increased computational cost, while Relax Mode offers cost-effective, regular-quality image generation.
Draft Mode: A new feature allowing users to rapidly generate lower-quality preview images at 10x speed and half the cost, which can later be upgraded to high-quality versions with a single click.
🛠️ Upcoming Features: Several standard Midjourney tools, such as image upscaling and retexturing, are temporarily unavailable but expected in the coming months.

Runway has released Gen-4, its powerful next-generation AI video generator, marking a major advancement in AI-driven creative tools.
Here’s the lowdown:
🎥 What's New in Runway Gen-4?
Unmatched Realism & Consistency: Generates coherent characters, locations, and objects across multiple scenes. It also maintains consistent visual styles and realistic physics throughout generated footage.
Advanced Visual Reference Use: Gen-4 can take user-provided images as visual references, allowing creators to maintain consistency in characters, lighting, style, and overall visual aesthetics without additional training or fine-tuning.
Dynamic and Realistic Motion: Runway touts Gen-4’s capability for creating videos featuring highly realistic motion and detailed visual environments, providing strong prompt adherence.
🏢 Runway’s Strategic Positioning: Backed by industry giants like Salesforce, Google, and Nvidia, Runway is aggressively differentiating itself by partnering with major Hollywood studios and investing millions into AI-generated film projects.
⚖️ Legal Implications: Runway has not disclosed the training data sources for Gen-4, partly due to competition and potential IP-related issues. The company currently faces lawsuits alleging unauthorized use of copyrighted artwork in training its generative models.
Despite ongoing legal challenges, Runway is reportedly raising new funding that could value the company at approximately $4 billion. Runway is also aiming for annualized revenues of around $300 million this year, driven by new launches including an API for video generation.

OpenAI has secured a record-breaking $40 billion investment round led by SoftBank, raising the AI startup’s valuation to a staggering $300 billion—the largest private tech funding round ever recorded.
Here are the deets:
🚀 Details of the Funding Round: OpenAI will initially receive $10 billion—$7.5 billion directly from SoftBank and an additional $2.5 billion from an investor syndicate. An extra $30 billion will follow by year's end, but only if OpenAI officially converts into a for-profit company by then. Otherwise, it stands to lose up to a quarter of the total funding.
🌟 Why It Matters
Rapid Expansion and Massive Ambitions: This round follows closely behind OpenAI’s recent announcement of Stargate, a $500 billion joint venture with SoftBank, Oracle, and Abu Dhabi’s MGX fund to build extensive AI data centers.
Explosive Growth: OpenAI recently experienced unprecedented growth—gaining 1 million users in a single hour—after releasing popular new features like Studio Ghibli-inspired AI art in ChatGPT.
Scaling Revenue, High Burn Rate: While revenue projections are robust, with OpenAI expecting $12.7 billion in earnings this year (up from $3.7 billion last year), the startup does not expect positive cash flow until 2029, when it forecasts annual revenue could reach $125 billion.
OpenAI emphasized its long-term goal of developing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) to benefit humanity at large.
In addition, CEO Sam Altman teased that OpenAI plans to release a new, powerful, open-weight reasoning model in the coming months, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to pioneering innovation.
