Yes, the time is finally here! ChatGPT Search (or SearchGPT, as some prefer) is live 🔎. We’ve tested it, and it’s pretty convenient, to say the least—like Perplexity but with the familiarity of ChatGPT.

🔎 ChatGPT Search goes live!

ChatGPT has leveled up its search game, now offering faster, more accurate answers by pulling real-time data from the web. 

With links to relevant news, stock quotes, sports scores, and other information, it merges natural language responses with up-to-date details you’d typically get from a search engine.

Here are the deets: 

📱 How It Works: ChatGPT will automatically choose to search the web when it detects relevant queries, but users can also initiate a search by selecting the web search icon. Available on chatgpt.com and via desktop and mobile apps, this feature is rolling out now for ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with Enterprise, Edu, and Free users expected to gain access over the coming months.

🔗 Built-In Source Links: Each chat response now includes citations to sources, like news articles or blog posts, making it easy to dive deeper. You can click the Sources button to view the references directly.

📈 New Information & Visuals: ChatGPT’s updated interface integrates detailed weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps data with visuals. Real-time stock updates, local weather forecasts, sports schedules, and more are now accessible directly in chat, thanks to partnerships with top data and news providers.

📰 Collaborations with Leading Publishers: OpenAI partnered with global news organizations, including Associated Press, Le Monde, Reuters, and News Corp, to offer reliable information and extend the reach of high-quality journalism. Publishers now have the option to appear in ChatGPT’s search results, opening up new avenues for audience engagement.

OpenAI plans to expand this new search experience to areas like shopping and travel, while also making it available in Advanced Voice and canvas modes. Future updates will bring ChatGPT’s search capabilities to Free and guest users, further broadening access.

🚀 Aesthetic launches the “Shazam for clothes.”

Aesthetic, a new fashion startup, launched its AI-powered style assistant, Alma, aiming to become the “Shazam for clothes.” 

Here’s what you need to know: 

🤖 How Alma Works: Alma helps users identify and shop for outfits they find on social media. Users simply send a link to an Instagram or TikTok post via direct message to Aesthetic’s account. Alma responds with a link to the Aesthetic site, where users can buy the look or save it to their Lookbook.

📱 Seamless Social Shopping: CEO LJ Northington envisions Aesthetic as a bridge between social media inspiration and accessible shopping. The app enables users to “save, shop, and share” their style without leaving their favorite platforms.

💼 Funding & Support: Backed by investments from Slow Capital, Zeal Capital Partners, and Google Cloud AI’s startup program, Aesthetic is focusing on becoming profitable. With Google’s support on AI initiatives, the company aims to keep costs low.

Northington plans to collaborate with brands and record labels, enabling artists to set up their own Aesthetic pages. This would allow fans to shop trends directly inspired by artists’ styles, such as Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” tour silver or Charli XCX’s neon Brat Summer.

🤖 GitHub Copilot is going multi-model! 

GitHub’s Copilot code completion tool is stepping up, allowing developers to choose AI models from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI.

Here’s the lowdown: 

🤖Multi-model Support: Users on the web or VS Code can now access Anthropic's Claude 3.5, with Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro coming soon. OpenAI’s models, including GPT-4o and o1-preview, are also part of the lineup, giving developers the flexibility to toggle between models for different tasks.

🌟 Introducing Spark: GitHub launched Spark, an AI tool that simplifies web app creation through natural language. Spark leverages OpenAI and Anthropic models to generate live previews of apps. Users can create, compare versions, and share their apps with others for further customization—ideal for both experienced and novice developers.

🖥️ Enhanced Copilot Features: At the GitHub Universe event, GitHub announced several new Copilot updates:

• Multi-File Edits: Available in VS Code starting today, allowing edits across multiple files simultaneously via Copilot Chat.

• Copilot Extensions: Arriving in early 2025, this feature expands functionality.

• Xcode Preview: Copilot for Xcode is now in public preview, providing more versatility for Apple developers.

• New Code Review Tool: Enhanced code review capabilities streamline collaboration.

By integrating multi-model AI and tools like Spark, GitHub envisions empowering users of all skill levels to develop and share their own “micro apps” directly on GitHub, setting a new standard for accessible coding and collaboration.
