⚡ The Neural Frontier’s weekly picks: 3 AI tools you should be using.
The South-Korea based tech giant recently made the decision to ban the use of generative AI tools—including ChatGPT. This resulted from an employee uploading proprietary code to ChatGPT, posing serious security risks. According to the internal memo, Samsung is concerned that data uploaded to these AI platforms are stored on external servers. Thus, making it difficult to retrieve or delete sensitive information.
With this ban, Samsung joins the ever-growing list of companies—like JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp., and Citigroup Inc—that have restricted or banned generative AI tools.
Nobel prize winner Geoffrey Hinton, popularly known as the Godfather of AI, recently quit his role at Google. This decision resulted from the 75-year-old’s desire to speak freely about the dangers of AI without a conflict of interest.
In his interview with the New York Times, Geoffrey Hinton expressed his regret—especially considering the risks of AI, stating, “I console myself with the normal excuse: If I hadn’t done it, somebody else would have.”
With over a decade of experience at Google, alongside cutting-edge contributions to the world of AI, Geoffrey leaves us with a warning about the dangers of AI. In his words, “The idea that this stuff could actually get smarter than people — a few people believed that. But most people thought it was way off. And I thought it was way off. I thought it was 30 to 50 years or even longer away. Obviously, I no longer think that.”
Relax, this isn’t another massive layoff update. But yes, you read that correctly. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, the company’s CEO, Arvind Krishna, stated that these job cuts will majorly affect non-customer-facing roles—such as HR. In his words, “I could easily see 30% of that getting replaced by AI and automation over a five-year period.”
Now, IBM has no plans to fire anyone currently occupying these roles. However, an IBM spokesperson confirmed that once vacated, these roles won’t be filled.
Another day, another GPT-inspired AI tool. With the recent influx of AI-powered tools, it’s getting a bit difficult to stay in the loop. Luckily, you have us for that!
PeopleGPT presents itself as the world’s first search engine for people-related information. Think of it as any talent recruitment specialist’s dream come true. With the right prompts, you could scrape the web for candidates that suit your ideal description.
For example, if I’m searching for an experienced SEO writer or columnist, I could use the prompt: “Writer that specializes in SEO-driven content, with at least 5 years of experience.”
This presents the AI tool as a direct competitor to a typical LinkedIn search. And with many tech giants hopping on the AI train, we’re looking forward to seeing LinkedIn’s response to this.
